Position Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Finance Team through full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and process improvement. This position ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations, while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and contributing to the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Finance Team through full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and process improvement. This position ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations, while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and contributing to the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.
Reports to: Finance Manager
The Senior Accountant’s Key Responsibilities Are
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoice processing, journal entries, sales tax calculations, and payment runs.
- Record and reconcile credit card transactions and employee expenses.
- Generate customer invoices, manage collections, and reconcile AR to cash receipts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset continuity schedules and depreciation entries.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules.
- Analyse complex financial data and prepare summaries, charts, and graphs as needed.
- Prepare for and coordinate financial and tax audits.
- Ensure financial records comply with IFRS, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and post accruals with appropriate justification and documentation.
- Track expenses and assist in compiling data for forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Project Controls, Procurement, Clients) to provide financial support.
- Maintain respectful and effective communication across all levels of the organization.
- Assist in developing and refining financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- CPA designation or working toward CPA is an asset.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with SAP, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Experience with joint ventures, partnerships, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial statements.
- Familiarity with fixed assets, leasing, and IFRS 16 compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong financial acumen and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- High level of discretion with confidential information.
- Creative thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo and adapt to ambiguity.
