ASSISTANT PLANNER
(Permanent, Full-Time)

The West Vancouver Planning, Development and Environment Services Department has an opening for a permanent, full-time Assistant Planner. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community Planning & Sustainability, the Assistant Planner is responsible for supporting a range of planning projects related to land use, sustainability, housing, design, and other related topics and issues.
This position will be responsible for a variety of assignments including:
The preferred candidate will also possess the ability to: plan, organize and carry out projects independently and as part of a cross-functional team; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and staff; provide timely and effective customer service; and, communicate effective orally and in writing.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, post-graduate degree, or other recognized diploma in planning in addition to professional work experience in urban planning; or an equivalent combination or education and experience.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.

- Conducting detailed planning analyses and investigations;
- Assisting supervisors and more senior staff in the preparation of studies and materials;
- Compiling data, performing calculations, and analyzing surveys;
- Preparing narrative, statistical and illustrated reports;
- Representing the department with presentations, at meetings, and on committees, and;
- Performing other related duties as required.
