Assistant to the VP of Design and Innovation

Mission of the Position

We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and resourceful Assistant to the Vice President of Design and Innovation to support strategic, technical, and administrative initiatives at our oil and gas equipment company. This position offers exposure to product development, R&D, technology integration, and business strategy in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and communication skills with a curiosity for engineering, technology, and business operations within the oil and gas industry.

Essential Duties

Executive-level Support

Travel with the VP to customer sites, strategic meetings, and industry events (up to 50%).

Provide direct support to the VP of Innovation, managing priorities, schedules, and follow-up actions.

Assist in researching new technologies, materials, and process improvements for oil and gas equipment and systems.

Prepare presentations, technical summaries, and proposal materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Coordinate cross-departmental communication between engineering, R&D, production, and executive teams.

Support the planning and execution of prototype builds, product testing, and field trials.

Passionate about technology, energy, and continuous improvement.

Capture meeting notes, action items, and next steps to ensure high-quality follow-through.

Business Development & Sales Support

Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify trends and new opportunities in the energy technology space.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Creative thinker who thrives in a collaborative, forward-looking environment.

Passionate about technology, energy, and oil and gas industry.

Conduct outbound prospecting via email, phone, LinkedIn, and industry networking.

Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, reports, and action lists.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive company information.

Help organize and capture ideas generated through the company's innovation initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

Demonstrate the ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time or more.

Complete all mandatory safety training and adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety Program.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Plant Operator, Apprenticeship Tickets or other related energy sector certifications preferred.

Experience

1–3 years of experience in oil & gas, LNG/CNG, energy services, industrial services, or related sectors with administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize technical concepts for varied audiences.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, or MS Project.

Comfortable working with engineering drawings, specifications, and data.

Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.

A proactive, “can-do” mindset and an interest in innovation and product development.
