As a Mining Hydrogeologist, reporting to the Hydrogeology Supervisor, you will support safe, compliant, and effective production at the Albian Oil Sands Project. The support broadly entails hydrogeological characterization, monitoring scope planning, field scope execution, and performance reporting.
- Job location: Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta or Calgary, Alberta
- Shift schedule:
- Albian: 4x3,10-hour shift (Monday – Thursday)
- Calgary: 5x2, 8-hour shift (Monday – Friday)
- Safety sensitive position: Yes
- Application deadline: November 27, 2025
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mine and Tailings Engineering, Mine and Tailings Operations, Environment, and Regulatory teams
- Perform hydrogeological site characterization, data analysis, and reporting on monthly, quarterly, or annual basis to internal and external stakeholders
- Design and optimization of mine depressurization and monitoring well networks
- Design groundwater and surface water sampling plans
- Provide coordination support and technical direction to field execution staff
- Perform hydrogeological fieldwork (aquifer testing/hydraulic conductivity testing, groundwater/surface water sampling, or well drilling supervision) when required
- Support technical reviews and presentations to stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering with specialization in Hydrogeology preferred
- Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA is required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Physical/Contaminant Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering or similar field
- Highly motivated individual with good communication/networking skills
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in using some or all the following industry tools will be considered an asset: Aqtesolv, Surfer, GIS, MODFLOW, FEFLOW, GeoStudio or AcQuire
- Knowledge of the McMurray Formation will be considered an asset
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license (or higher) with a clean record
