Purpose:
Join our dynamic team as an Intermediate Marine Technical Consultant. This role is to provide expert ecological and environmental support across diverse projects by leading fieldwork, delivering high-quality technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position is integral to advancing sustainable solutions through accurate data analysis, effective client engagement, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. By mentoring junior staff and fostering strong client relationships, the role contributes to the successful execution of projects that prioritize safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in fieldwork, including leading field staff (preference to marine, wildlife, vegetation and aquatic/fisheries field experience).
- Author wildlife, vegetation, wetland, aquatic, and fisheries technical reports, workplans, and proposals.
- Possess the terrestrial and/or aquatic ecology technical skills and regulatory knowledge for various projects.
- Data entry and analysis.
- Client management, including communication through verbal and written correspondence.
- Responsible for personal safety and the safe working practices, and understand and follow Worley occupational health and safety procedures.
- Work independently, or as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Assist, guide, or mentor less experienced team members to develop their technical and project skills.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients; and
- Travel as required for various projects.
What you will Bring
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Intermediate-level experience working in terrestrial and aquatic ecology consulting;
- Experience with applicable legislation pertaining to marine, wildlife, vegetation and aquatics in Western Canada;
- Experience conducting ecological field surveys (e.g., inter-tidal assessments, wildlife surveys, vegetation assessments, ecosite classification surveys, and fish and fish habitat surveys);
- Experience with underwater acoustic monitoring equipment (hydrophones) or ROVs would be an asset;
- Experience installing and maintaining remote wildlife cameras and autonomous recording units would be an asset;
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills;
- Professional experience in industries such as ports and marine terminals, LNG, pipelines, upstream/downstream oil and gas facilities, mining, infrastructure, and renewable energies within BC, would be an asset;
- Strong interpersonal, management and leadership skills;
- Strong technical writing skills;
- Self-starter and flexible team player
- Ability to work within a team environment;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Bachelors or master’s degree in science, environmental resource management, or equivalent experience;
- Professional Biologist or ability to obtain R.P.Bio designation or relevant provincial agrology designation;
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $55,914 to $99,078.
