The Registered Pharmacy Technician is primarily responsible for accurately performing the technical aspects of prescription dispensing including receiving a prescription, transferring prescriptions, dispensing prescriptions including the technical release, and compounding (site-specific).
In addition, the Registered Pharmacy Technician will assist with inventory maintenance and ordering, communicating with patients, health care providers and internal customers, arranging payments and other duties as required to support the pharmacy team. The Registered Pharmacy Technician is expected to participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations required of a team player.
All roles at Sentrex will be cross trained as permitted by scope of practice, and you may be required to help out in other areas of the pharmacy when required.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here):
- Accurate processing of prescriptions, including data entry of prescriptions, scheduling refills, picking/labelling/packaging of medications, technical release of prescription, and preparing prescriptions/orders for delivery.
- Maintaining accurate drug inventory including purchasing and receiving medications and supply items, checking expiration dates, and performing scheduled inventory counts.
- Provide exemplary customer service to patients, physicians/health care professionals and medical clinic staff, primarily by phone/email.
- Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements as set out by the provincial pharmacy regulatory body.
- Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications, including ambient and cold chain products.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing review of policies and procedures as they pertain to Pharmacy Operations.
- Manage dispensing and shipping schedules.
- Processing account payments and account receivable statements.
- Proactively problem solve third party insurance issues to ensure timely processing of prescription claims.
- Monitoring of fridge temperatures and reporting any variances directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
- Perform compounding of medications, if site offers this service.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the provincial pharmacy regulatory body, or eligible for registration
- Successful completion of a CCAPP accredited Pharmacy Technician post-secondary diploma program
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a pharmacy setting
- Proficiency with Kroll preferred
- Experience in the specialty pharmacy is considered an asset
- Knowledge of third-party insurance plans and pharmacy special authorization procedures preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Ability to communicate in other languages an asset.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities and multi-task in order to meet various competing work deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Ability to physically stand for extended periods of time, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds
