Your role
We’re looking for a skilled multiplatform production editor to join our team! You’ll be responsible for editing across Avid and Premiere, handling both horizontal and vertical video. The selected candidate will be assigned primarily to the team at Connexion, the cultural magazine for Western and Northern Canada. In addition to your editing duties, you’ll be adapting and exporting materials for our digital and video platforms. You should also be comfortable with field editing setups, including editing laptops.
You’ll work under the supervision of the Operations Producer, with support from the Culture and Society program Producer. As a subject matter expert, you’ll also be expected to work independently and provide guidance to colleagues.

Your role

Key tasks:
- Participate in all stages of planning, production and packaging of TV, and digital video content.
- Edit video content primarily using Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Create and integrate visual, graphic and text elements using the Avid and Adobe suites.
- Adapt and export edits across different platforms (digital, TV).
- Develop and communicate file export standards.
- Work with maintenance staff to ensure the smooth operation of field editing equipment (laptops).
- Provide expert advice and support to operations colleagues on relevant systems.
Objective criteria:
- Technical knowledge and understanding of daily television and digital video production methods. Knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in multimedia arts.
- Four years’ experience working in editing or the media arts.
- Ability to edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems, such as Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Excellent command of French (French-speaking work environment).
- Passion for details.
- Resourcefulness to find solutions to maintenance issues when specialized staff are not around.
- Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work various shift patterns, including overnights and weekends, often in unexpected overtime situations.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a calm, professional attitude.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to pursue the acquisition of editing elements with minimum supervision, ensuring a high degree of accuracy, quality and creativity.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Highly creative, imaginative problem-solver and motivated self-starter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking.
