Job Description
The Trade Coordinator supports the Trade Superintendent for a specific trade or group of trades by coordinating with the HR Business Partner and Workforce Development team to manage the overall administration of the trade group. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, this role maintains a strong working relationship with the Trade Superintendent and regularly liaises with the hourly trades workforce, HR teams, and Trade Management to ensure the workforce is effectively supported and mobilized. The position handles routine activities independently and seeks guidance only for exceptions or non-standard matters.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at our Operations Center at 50 Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver.

This position may involve defense articles and/or technical data regulated by the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the U.S. Arms Export Control Act. What You'll Do
- Administratively manage, schedule and coordinate training programs and trade management activities for the Vancouver Shipyard workforce and front-line leadership.
- Maintain detailed records in Learning Management System (LMS) - Oracle OLC – and track completions, expirations, and reminders of relevant training and orientations.
- Prepare and maintain reporting on LMS training data for operations teams.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of personal tools.
- Liaise internally with trade leadership to understand training requirements and trade specific areas for improvement.
- Act as interface with the group’s trades employees ensuring a strong relationship and feedback loop maintained.
- Support apprentice program management, including coordinating reviews and general administrative support.
- Monitors internal control, compliance, and regulatory guidelines (training and recruitment) are met.
- Maintain employee files for quality, training, attendance, and work competencies.
- Track employee usage of available leave types and absences for approved reasons.
- Collaborate with the wellness team and key stakeholders to facilitate and support employees participating in a Gradual Return to Work (GRTW) program.
- Provide support in coordinating overtime across various trade groups.
- Track and manage probation of new hires. Coordinate with trade supervisors regarding hours and performance, while also notifying the union.
- Support communications and engagement with the trade workforce.
- Provide in-field support for Trade Superintendent and Supervisors, as required.
- Performs additional trade support specific tasks and general duties as assigned.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business or HR; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a high-volume administration capacity.
- Experience supporting large workforce teams in an operational, manufacturing or industrial environment; experience working with trades people, considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with construction or trades processes and regulations is beneficial.
- Time management and organization skills with ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities.
- Relationship building, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a team member.
