Overview

Reporting to the Director of the Environmental Assessment and Community Engagement (EEPC) department, the successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to carry out various environmental studies (biophysical characterization, permits and authorizations, work monitoring) and environmental and social impact assessments in the mining, industrial, energy, infrastructure, and marine sectors. As an Aquatic Biologist, you will have the opportunity to participate in various fieldwork activities, ecological and wildlife inventories.

As a Project Manager, you will perform various tasks within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, helping achieve departmental objectives and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong teamwork skills, initiative, and hands-on experience in environmental studies, natural environment characterization, and the permitting process for projects of varying scale.

Your Role

  • Lead and/or participate in wildlife inventories (aquatic environment, fish habitat, herpetofauna, etc.), and if possible, vegetation characterization, wetlands, invasive species, etc.;
  • Lead and/or participate in implementing wildlife compensation and habitat enhancement projects;
  • Assist in preparing proposals (strategy, work plan, client meetings, budget, etc.);
  • Perform environmental monitoring work as needed;
  • Ensure compliance with project budgets and schedules;
  • Maintain effective and constructive client relationships within your responsibilities;
  • Participate in environmental impact studies and related studies within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Contribute to environmental effects assessments and permit applications.

About You

  • Master's degree in an environment-related field with concrete specialization in ichthyofauna;
  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in field inventories (scientific fishing, fish identification, biophysical characterization, sampling, etc.);
  • Availability for short-term travel and fieldwork (short and medium duration);
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and synthesis skills;
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or ability to obtain CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) within six months is a condition of employment if not currently PMP certified;
  • Practical knowledge in:
    • Fish habitat: characterization, scientific fishing, field coordination, permit applications;
    • Ecology: floristic and ecological inventories, wetland and forest characterization, species with special status and invasive species (an asset);
    • Environmental management: characterization, environmental assessments, impact studies, permit applications (an asset).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French; English bilingualism* (spoken and written) is an asset;
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills;
  • Initiative, autonomy, and versatility;
  • ASP Construction training (an asset).
This position requires knowledge of another language besides French, namely English, as you will be part of a Canadian, global, or regional management team and will need to collaborate with colleagues outside Quebec.
