Role Overview
Reporting to a Director within the Genomics Research and Innovation Programs (GRIP) team, you will manage a portfolio of programs aligned with Genome Canada’s missions. You will contribute to program design, policy development, peer review processes, and post-award administration, ensuring alignment with our commitment to IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) and Indigenous truth, reconciliation, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver research programs and corporate initiatives that advance Canada’s science and innovation agenda.
- Contribute to the development of mission-based funding opportunities and review criteria.
- Manage application and peer review processes.
- Oversee post-award administration for assigned programs.
- Provide guidance and support to Genome Centres, funding agencies, and stakeholders.
- Organize workshops, surveys, and meetings to explore policy initiatives and program areas.
- Share information on Genome Canada policies, missions, and programs with research networks.
- Embed IDEA principles and Indigenous engagement in all activities.
- Education: Research-based degree; graduate degree in life sciences, natural resources, or environment preferred.
- Knowledge:
- Canada’s research environment and Genome Canada’s mandate.
- Genomics research funding in Canada and internationally.
- Policies related to national-scale research funding programs.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in policy interpretation and implementation in regulated environments.
- Minimum 3 years in funding program administration (competitive research grants preferred).
- Experience in research environments is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with genomics data standards and best practices.
- Understanding of Canadian data governance frameworks and interoperability issues.
- Knowledge of high-performance computing and cloud platforms is an asset.
- Languages: Fluency in English required; French is an asset.
