Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Fort Saskatchewan team on a part time basis. A Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll and maintaining employee pay records while ensuring full compliance with Alberta legislation and company policies. They provide timely support to employees and leaders on payroll, benefits, and time administration.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 3–5 years of payroll experience, ideally in construction, industrial, or project-based environments.
  • Experience with Sage for payroll, job costing, and employee data management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Solid understanding of Alberta Employment Standards, CRA requirements, ROEs, T4s, and year-end payroll tasks.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to explain payroll topics clearly to employees and supervisors.
  • Experience processing payroll for hourly, salaried, and field-based employees (overtime, premiums, travel, LOA, etc.).
  • Comfortable working with deadlines, volume, and fast-paced operational environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to resolve discrepancies and improve processes proactively.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism in all payroll interactions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with HR, Finance, and Operations.
