Lead, Permitting and Reporting

ROLE PURPOSE:


The Permitting and Reporting Lead works collaboratively with the team to ensure compliance with reporting and permitting requirements stipulated by regulatory instruments, legislation and approvals. They will provide on-site environmental training, awareness and direction to environmental staff and other site personnel.


Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

Area 1:

Environmental governance and reporting

  • Review project schedules and determine permitting requirements, including the identification and coordination of required studies and timelines.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to determine regulatory requirements for site management and development through the Life of Mine.

  • Lead the coordination and development of regulatory reports to satisfy provincial and federal requirements.

  • Prepare regulatory submissions, working closely with consultants, operations and technical teams.

  • Track permitting progress, maintain permitting registers, and track compliance with the management system.

  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements.

  • Update environmental management and monitoring plans to reflect requirements.

  • In collaboration with the community relations department, identify and develop consultation strategies for stakeholders and rights holders, consistent with Côté’s Indigenous Consultation Plan and as directed by regulatory authorities.

  • Provide a professional opinion on matters related to the execution of environmentally sensitive scopes.

  • Liaise with various provincial and federal regulators as required.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impacts on existing and future approvals.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • Post-secondary degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or other related field.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental and mining-related experience.
  • Project management experience is considered an asset.

  • Leadership & Integrity: Strong leadership, ethical standards, and commitment to sustainable practices.

  • Regulatory & Environmental Expertise: In-depth knowledge of federal/provincial mining regulations and environmental impacts.

  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.

  • Project & Organizational Management: Skilled in project management, prioritization, and meeting deadlines.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent oral/written communication and ability to build strong internal/external relationships.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Office and project management software skills; familiarity with regulatory reporting systems.

  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
