Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting clinical leadership opportunity within the Edmonton Zone Allied Health Community department supporting the Pediatric Community Rehab Team. Reporting to the Manager, Allied Health Community, the Physical Therapy Team Lead is responsible and accountable for planning/implementation/evaluation of clinical services; providing strong clinical leadership and support to front-line service providers. The successful candidate will maintain strong communication links with Allied Health management, clinical practice leaders, AHS partners and external stakeholders. The Team lead will support staff in the provision of high quality, evidence-informed practice in alignment with departmental and organizational mission, vision and values. The Team lead will identify, report and supporting the implementation of corrective actions for concerns identified related to patient and/or staff safety. The PT Team Leader will also be responsible for the provision of some direct client care services. The Team Lead develops and maintains strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to provide leadership and support to the Pediatric Community Rehab program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Allied Health leadership team to support staff in the provision of seamless, high quality and sustainable client care.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Practice Permit with the Alberta College of Physical Therapists (ACoPT). 5 years experience in a Pediatric Physical Therapy service delivery setting. CPR certification. Class 5 driver's License or non GDL. Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal/public relations skills are required as are excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

AADL authorizer status preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients and families, program staff and community partners. Self-directed and independent decision making. Superior clinical judgement, critical thinking skills and ability to integrate new learning. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Generates innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
