CasualCalian is proud to partner with federal agencies to deliver expert psychological assessments that help select and support professionals in high-risk roles. We’re currently looking for a Clinical Psychologist in the Sault Ste. Marie area to become part of our growing national network.
When agencies like the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) need to ensure their officers are psychologically prepared for the demands of law enforcement, they turn to Calian’s trusted team of psychologists. Your expertise will directly contribute to the safety and resilience of those who protect our communities.
In this role, you will:
- Shape the future of public safety by conducting pre-employment psychological assessments for CBSA candidates, ensuring they’re ready for the emotional and cognitive demands of frontline service.
- Support recovery and resilience through fitness-for-duty evaluations following the removal of defensive equipment, including assessments related to substance use and recovery.
- Help officers return to duty with confidence after critical incidents, firearm discharge, or trauma, ensuring they’re psychologically prepared to resume operational responsibilities.
- Apply your clinical expertise using psychometric tools like the MMPI-3, 16PF, MCMI-IV, and MAST/DAST, alongside structured interviews to deliver clear, evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological suitability assessments for CBSA candidates and armed personnel to determine readiness for duty.
- Review and interpret psychometric test results administered by Calian’s team, integrating findings into comprehensive evaluations.
- Perform structured stress interviews as part of a two-stage assessment process.
- Evaluate fitness for duty following mental health concerns, substance use, or exposure to trauma.
- Assess readiness to return to operational roles after critical incidents.
- Provide clear, professional recommendations regarding psychological suitability for armed law enforcement roles.
- Complete standardized reports and offer feedback to candidates when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Calian’s senior psychological leadership team as needed.
Qualifications
- Registered psychologist licensed for autonomous practice and in good standing in the province of practice.
- Doctorate-level applicants: Minimum 5 years of experience with formal training in personality assessment or occupational health psychology.
- Master’s-level applicants: Minimum 10 years of experience with formal training in personality assessment or occupational health psychology.
- Minimum of 25 psychological assessments conducted for law enforcement or military personnel.
- Ability to provide a de-identified sample report demonstrating relevant clinical competencies.
- Proficiency in psychological personality assessment using validated tools (e.g., MMPI-3, 16PF, MCMI-IV) and structured interviews.
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible for and able to obtain a Reliability-level security clearance in accordance with federal government standards.
