Position Information Position Title AVFX Technician Position - Casual
Position Summary Animation and Visual Effects Technicians support the technical aspects of the Animation and Visual Effects program. The focus of this position is on assisting students and faculty with a primary focus on the online cohort of students and support of online students These positions support the following classes for Winter 2026 (January 2026 to April 2026)
- AVFX 1107 – approx. 6 hrs per week (2* 3 hr studio course blocks) class during scheduled class time only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- AVFX 3313, approx. 6 hrs per week (2* 3 hr studio course blocks) class during scheduled class time only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- AVFX 4425 approx. 6 hrs per week. Class times vary.
Position Responsibilities
- Supports AVFX class activities including practical work and ensure proper support for student learning.
- Focuses on supporting students in the online student cohort.
- Assists users to use animation and visual effects applications and software packages and their features.
- Answers questions as appropriate, referring students to faculty when related to classroom content.
- Answers technical questions from students and/or faculty.
- Helping AVFX students understand how to use software and pieces of technical equipment safely and effectively.
- Assists faculty with technical aspects of project delivery and process demonstration.
- Identifies, diagnoses, analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves all technical hardware and software issues.
- Identifies and escalates situations requiring immediate attention.
- Logs all support interactions into the ticketing system.
- Helps the Animation and Visual Effects Technical Analyst when required.
Required Qualifications Completion of a 1-year college certificate, one year university or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred candidate(s) would be a fourth (4) year AVFX student.
- Three (3) year degree, three years of university in an AVFX related area.
Salary or Hourly? Hourly
Salary $27.01 per hour
Benefits and Compensation Information An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
