About The Role
The Senior Development Manager will play a key role in the execution and oversight of real estate development projects across Canada, managing complex projects from inception through completion. This role bridges strategic direction from senior leadership with on-the-ground execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with company standards and investment objectives. The Senior Development Manager will coordinate cross-functional functions, and serve as a primary liaison with development partners, consultants, and contractors to drive consistent quality and performance throughout the development process.

About The Role
The Senior Development Manager will play a key role in the execution and oversight of real estate development projects across Canada, managing complex projects from inception through completion. This role bridges strategic direction from senior leadership with on-the-ground execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with company standards and investment objectives. The Senior Development Manager will coordinate cross-functional functions, and serve as a primary liaison with development partners, consultants, and contractors to drive consistent quality and performance throughout the development process.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Execution
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple development projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and design standards.
- Manage due diligence processes, including financial feasibility analysis, site evaluation, zoning reviews, environmental assessments, and risk analysis.
- Oversee third-party consultants (architects, engineers, contractors, and developers), ensuring alignment with project goals, specifications, and company development standards.
- Coordinate and oversee municipal approval processes, including zoning, development approvals, permitting, and compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Drive resolution of complex design, construction, and delivery issues in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for development and operational partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support relationship management with local authorities, joint venture partners, and external stakeholders to ensure proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Assist in evaluating and recommending new development partners and opportunities across Canadian markets.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage detailed project budgets, schedules, and proformas.
- Provide regular and accurate reporting to senior leadership on project progress, risks, and financial performance.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and schedule.
- Contribute to investment memoranda and development approvals with sound analysis and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with Development leaders to align project execution with strategic business priorities and portfolio growth objectives.
- Contribute to the refinement of development processes, systems, and best practices to enhance consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Monitor and report on Canadian market trends, regulations, and construction practices to inform strategic decision-making.
- Mentor Development Managers and Analysts by providing guidance on project management best practices, financial analysis, and partner oversight.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of new development team members.

Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in real estate development or related fields, including direct project management experience.
- Experience in healthcare, mixed-use, or senior living development preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Development, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; advanced degrees or relevant certifications are preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling abilities.
- Proven experience coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for managing external relationships and internal reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
