Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 33 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 11 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.


The Role: Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager (based in Canada) is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of corporate accounting functions, providing expertise in accounting services and implementing company finance policy for the US business.


  • Major Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of general ledger including analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry
  • Preparing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Maintain vendor records, including obtaining W-9s from new vendors and updating records with tax status and tax ID
  • Ensure Accounts Payable are reviewed, approved, properly accounted for, and paid in a timely manner
  • Verify invoices and expense reports to ensure correct amount is calculated with proper sales taxes, discounts and debits/credits applied
  • Ensure timely sales and use tax return filings
  • Work with corporate tax team to file accurate and timely tax returns
  • Coordinate, oversee semi-annual inventory audits and cash counts
  • Streamline the process and assist with internal & external audits as required
  • Manage banking operations and internal controls over checks issuing and approving wire transfers
  • Establish a collaborative working relationship and build partnership with other departments and corporate support groups
  • Provide ongoing coaching, education and professional development, including workshops, seminars, classes, meetings, etc. to ensure staff are staying current with relevant accounting knowledge
  • Proactively manage employees’ performance, take timely and appropriate progressive actions in recognizing or disciplining employees’ behaviors Provide ad hoc financial reports or related support as needed

  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3 or more years of experience as an Accounting Manager. CPA designation is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a variety of accounting functions to include financial accounting and reporting accounts payable management, inventory accounting, fixed asset accounting, sales and use tax reporting, and corporate tax reporting
  • Have a track record in delivering and managing results, demonstrate strong ability in multi-tasking, prioritize and complete requests in an efficient manner
  • Demonstrates a keen sense of urgency and commitment to follow up and meet multiple deadlines without compromising on work quality
  • Able to work under pressure with a focus on accuracy and meeting various deadlines
  • Able to coach, assist employees to grow and manage performance, and demonstrate good leadership and teamwork skills
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills with ability to solve problems independently
  • Experience in Startup business is highly preferred
  • Work knowledge in US business taxation is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders; with strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset
  • Possess intermediate to advance level in MS Words and PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiar with Macola 10 will be an asset (or training will be provided)
