The Mechanical Designer, reporting to the Engineering Manager, is responsible for the conceptualization and mechanical design of robotic, servo, and pneumatic-based packaging machines and sub assemblies using SolidWorks. Success in this role will depend on the ability to work to technical specifications, schedule, and budget constraints.

The Mechanical Designer, reporting to the Engineering Manager, is responsible for the conceptualization and mechanical design of robotic, servo, and pneumatic-based packaging machines and sub assemblies using SolidWorks. Success in this role will depend on the ability to work to technical specifications, schedule, and budget constraints.
Are you excited about this work?
- Ensure overall technical success of the machine, with primary responsibility for mechanical, robotic, and pneumatic systems.
- Collaborate closely with electrical team members responsible for controls and programming.
- Review and interpret customer specifications and application parameters.
- Analyze and develop solutions for various mechanical challenges.
- Design detailed parts and sub-assemblies, ensuring proper functionality and fit.
- Create complete design packages, including BOMs, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, and layouts.
- Check and validate all final design documentation, parts lists, and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with design and contract requirements.
- Work closely with Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Purchasing, and Assembly teams.
- Participate in and support machine testing.

- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a mechanical designer in the custom automation sector.; background in packaging industry is preferred.
- Occasional travel to North America will be required.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong skills in problem identification and resolution.
- Solid analytical thinking combined with planning, prioritization, and execution capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CAD, and ERP systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information ethically and professionally.
