PENT is seeking qualified, Contract Academic Staff to teach the following three credit hour courses during the Spring/Summer session of 2026. The instructor will be responsible for content delivery with expectations consistent with offerings of this course within the appropriate department.

Qualified candidates must possess a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate, strong teaching, communication and organizational skills, and demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness. These courses will be taught in-person on Brandon University’s campus in Brandon, Manitoba.

02.342 – Foundations of Literacy – June 29- July 23 – 1:30 – 4:00 PM – Monday to Thursday
This course explores theories of English literacy development and teaching methods for students of varying ability across grade levels.

02.381 – Teaching Indigenous Studies – June 29 – July 23 – 1:30 – 4:00 PM – Monday to Thursday
This course will assist teachers in integrating Indigenous studies into various subject areas in the school curriculum and in teaching separate courses in Indigenous studies. It will assist teachers in developing abilities in working with non-Indigenous and Indigenous students, through considering modes of teaching and learning, as well as content. The course introduces teachers to questions about First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture and identity and pedagogies relating to these.

02.458 – Introduction to ELA Methods (EY) – June 29 – July 23 – 9:00 – 11:30 AM – Monday to Thursday
This course is an introduction to the methods, materials, and rationale for Language Arts in the Early Years classroom. It covers the development of literacy, the influence of outside school experiences on language acquisition and development, the role of linguistics, the inter-relationship of the six areas of Language Arts, organization and development of an effective educational experience for young children and an overview of useful teaching practices and methodology ranging from direct instruction to whole language.

03.351 – Instructional Methods – April 6 – 30 – 5:00 – 7:30 PM – Monday to Thursday
This is an introductory methods course designed to develop the skills and strategies used to teach all subjects in the Early and Middle years. It includes the application of writing objectives, questioning strategies, and reaching closure to both lessons and units of instruction. The practical application of instructional methods to classroom situations will be an integral part of the course.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in an area related to the topic of instruction. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master’s degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee at the address below on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.

Salary: $7857 per 3 credit hour course
