Integrated Operator at Royal Canadian Mint
The Mint is hiring an Integrated Operator, who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations, the Integrated Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery across multiple departments, including burnishing, pickling, blanking press, racking, E-Clean, and various manual equipment in medals, pre-melt, chlorination, and gold and silver casting.
Your Responsibilities:

Operate various production machinery and equipment according to instructions, meeting established quantity, and quality standards:
- Coining Room: Operate coining presses, E-Clean, and medals equipment.
- Rolling Room: Use blanking press, rimming machine, automated checkweigher, and racking systems.
- Burnishing: Operate burnishing tumblers, pickling baths, washing, drying equipment, etc.
- Shaving: Operate the shaving stations
- Premelt, Chlorination, Gold and Silver Casting: Prepare moulds, pour molten metal, remove castings, quench, clean, stamp bars; operate remote manipulator, control bar IF-13 furnace, inspect finished product, prepare charges for silver and gold, assist with anode pours for Chlorination Refiners.
- Sweeps: Operate the rod mill, crusher, gravity table, jackhammer and the mechanical sampler.
- Bar Finishing: Utilize tools to finish 1000-oz silver bars.
Qualifications:
This opening is to be filled on a continuous operation or shift work basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in one official language (English or French) is mandatory; the second official language is an asset.
Education and Designation:
- Completed high school diploma.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 months of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

- Ability to work safely and in a conscientious manner in a foundry and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in accordance with ISO policy and procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to exercise judgment and initiative.
- Ability to organize assigned tasks/functions and prepare material as instructed, identify trends or deficiencies.
- Ability to prepare accurate daily reports on activities.
- Abilities to utilize data entry tools including bar-coding scanning devices and computer data entry systems.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work on or support continuous improvement projects.
- Skilled in the operation of manufacturing equipment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Demonstrated skill to in the areas of learning and adapting to new technologies, processes and equipment.
- Operation of equipment such as hoists/cranes, hand pallet trucks, forklifts
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area and machinery.
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge in the activities related to the operating and maintaining production equipment within a manufacturing environment.
- Possess basic understanding of the process activities, process materials, products, and byproducts in refinery.
- Possesses basic understanding of the process activities, process materials, and products in the production area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of process control duties including using micrometres, verniers, scales and hardness testers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCMR procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge on Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Promotes and maintains a high level of health and safety awareness with the ability of being proactive on day-to-day safety items/actions.
- Demonstrated comprehension and application an organization’s work instructions as written or communicated.
- General understanding of quality standards (ISO) and Lean practices.
