As a Protective Services team member, you will nurture positive relationships with all the patients, families, staff, and the community. As the first to respond and record all security events, you will need strong interpersonal and communication skills to promote collaboration and respect while mitigating high-stress situations. Your compassion and ability to relate to patients, families, staff, visitors, and communities help deescalate conflict and create a positive, safe, diverse, and welcoming environment for all Description: As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment Additional Required Qualifications: A minimum two years of related work experience OR a related degree or diploma in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology. Other related education may be considered. Current First Aid and CPR Level C – AED certification. Ability to work a 24-hour shift rotation Preferred Qualifications: Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer). Cadet program experience. Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions). Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism and Indigenous awareness. Fluent in languages other than English. An active appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General.
