Job Overview


Construction & Site Leadership

  • Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
  • Oversee daily operations, site planning, resource allocation, and coordination of multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities by coordinating technical, field, and engineering teams.


Project Management & Execution

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, construction plans, and progress milestones.
  • Manage site budgets, track costs, review progress payments, and support change management processes.
  • Identify risks, constraints, and issues early; implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and objectives.
  • Drive timely resolution of site challenges through collaboration with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.


Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all personnel follow safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and best practices for site protection and sustainability.


Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for internal teams, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate clear communication and alignment between field operations, engineering, procurement, and project management groups.
  • Build positive working relationships with local authorities, regulatory agencies, landowners, community members, and project partners.
  • Represent the project at meetings, inspections, and site reviews.


Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee quality control processes and ensure all construction activities meet required standards.
  • Review drawings, specifications, inspection reports, and documentation to verify accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate testing, inspections, commissioning, and verification activities with contractors and technical specialists.
  • Ensure deficiencies are addressed and documented through established quality procedures.


Documentation, Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare regular progress reports, site updates, safety records, and documentation for leadership and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, decisions, inspections, testing results, and project changes.
  • Support preparation of close-out documentation, turnover packages, and final inspections.
  • Ensure effective communication flow between site activities and broader project management objectives.


Project Close-Out & Final Delivery

  • Coordinate final inspections, punch-list activities, and resolution of outstanding deficiencies.
  • Support commissioning, handover, and acceptance activities with clients and operations teams.
  • Ensure site restoration, demobilization, and documentation are completed in alignment with project requirements


Qualifications


Education

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience may be considered.
  • Additional training or certifications in project management or construction management are considered an asset.


Professional Certifications & Licenses

  • Project Management–related certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Health & Safety certifications such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, WHMIS, or similar are preferred.
  • Valid safety, site-access, or industry-specific training (e.g., lockout/tagout, equipment operation, environmental compliance) is an advantage.
  • Eligibility for professional designation (engineering, project management, construction supervision) is considered beneficial.


Experience

  • Progressive experience in construction, site management, project execution, or field operations in large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Experience overseeing multidisciplinary scopes (civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental) on active construction sites.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, subcontractors, and field teams to achieve safety, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Demonstrated track record managing project planning, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and risk management.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering, procurement, project management, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, permitting, testing, inspections, and commissioning processes.
  • Proficiency with construction management and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Office, project scheduling software, digital documentation systems).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documents, field reports, and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, environmental compliance, and industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and hazard identification.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to guide, supervise, and motivate diverse site teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with contractors, clients, engineers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to handle conflict, negotiate solutions, and make confident, timely decisions.
  • High level of organization with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations and adapt to dynamic project conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel or work on active job sites as needed.
  • Commitment to a strong safety culture and adherence to workplace policies and standards.
  • Ability to work extended hours or shifts based on project needs.
