Technical Sales Representative at Dynamo Electric

The Technical Sales Representative plays a vital role in supporting the Business Development team by identifying and converting business opportunities arising from both historical and recent shutdowns and projects. The representative collaborates closely with our internal operations, engineering, field services, and construction and manufacturing, as well as external vendors and suppliers, to ensure accurate pricing, feasibility, and timely delivery.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in medium and high voltage power systems and excels at building client relationships. They maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, client needs, and market dynamics to help differentiate Dynamo’s solutions and support strategic growth. Strong communication, organizational skills, and a proactive mindset are essential for success in this role
Some of your responsibilities may include:
Lead Generation & Client Engagement
- Analyze past/historical shutdown and maintenance records to identify new opportunities for repeat or related work.
- Contact and qualify leads, assess client needs, and align solutions with technical and commercial requirements.
- Provide responsive and knowledgeable support for technical inquiries, quotes, and job specifications.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Quoting & Proposal Management
- Ensure competitive, and technically sound quotations are tailored to each client’s unique requirements.
- Collaborate with internal operations teams to ensure solution feasibility and pricing accuracy.
- Coordinate with engineering, field services, construction and manufacturing teams to gather appropriate inputs for proposals.
- Follow up on open quotes and pending opportunities in a timely manner.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
- Ensure cost-effective sourcing for quoted projects by comparing supplier options and identifying alternatives.
- Engage with key vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical specifications for materials and equipment.
- Stay informed of vendor key contacts, capabilities, lead times, and service offerings.
- Develop and sustain strategic relationships with preferred vendors to support project delivery timelines and budgets.
Market & Competitor Awareness
- Monitor industry trends, pricing strategies, and new technologies relevant to the services we provide.
- Research and monitor market offerings to understand value propositions and identify opportunities to differentiate our solutions.
- Identify potential market threats or shifts in client preferences and communicate insights to the Business Development team.
- Assist in the development of strategic plans and sales development that highlights Dynamo’s strengths versus our competitors.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, quotes, and sales activities in our CRM system.
- Provide weekly pipeline updates, win/loss analysis, and quote pending reports to the BD team.
- Contribute to sales forecasting and business development planning based on observed trends and historical data.
Lessons Learned
- Close the loop on completed jobs to analyze jobs bid and won so that estimate models can be updated and lessons learned from execution can be applied to the quote.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field; or
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Red Seal Certification, Sales, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, estimating, and quoting RFQs/RFPs, ideally in a technical, utility, or industrial setting (e.g., electrical, manufacturing, engineering services).
- Experience working with suppliers/vendors on quoting, pricing negotiations, onboarding, or procurement support.
- Strong analytical and judgment skills for evaluating cost structures, margins, and competitive positioning.
- Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Cosential) and MS Office (especially Excel/Word and Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with high/medium voltage systems, including transformers, switchgear, relay protection, and industrial commissioning or maintenance projects.
- Ability to interpret client needs and translate them into actionable quotes and deliverables.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong multitasking ability.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and client service skills with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
