Civil / Rail System Interface Engineer at Amico Affiliates

Date: 13 hours ago
City: Mississauga, ON
Contract type: Full time

About the Project

Trillium Rail Partners (TRP) is delivering the Design, Build and Finance (DBF) scope of Metrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) — a 9.2-km light rail transit (LRT) extension with seven new stations, elevated guideways, and tunnels connecting Mount Dennis to Renforth Drive.

As part of our Systems Integration team, you’ll help ensure that the civil infrastructure (tunnels, guideways, and stations) integrates safely and efficiently with all rail systems — including track, traction power, overhead catenary, signaling, communications, and control systems.

Role Overview

The Civil / Rail System Interface Engineer supports the coordination of all technical and physical interfaces between the project’s civil works and rail systems.

You will work closely with design consultants, systems specialists, and construction teams to ensure designs are compatible, interfaces are clearly defined, and installation and testing activities are well coordinated. This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrated railway system performs safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all interfaces between civil infrastructure and rail systems.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Definition Documents (IDDs).
  • Review civil and systems design deliverables to identify and resolve interface issues.
  • Ensure system requirements (e.g., space, supports, penetrations, access) are included in civil designs.
  • Support integration workshops and coordination meetings across civil and systems disciplines.
  • Participate in verification, validation, and integration testing activities.
  • Track interface issues, risks, and design changes; support mitigation and resolution.
  • Liaise with Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, and key subcontractors on interface matters.
  • Support configuration management and change control processes.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for interface and integration reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in rail or transit infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of how civil works interface with rail systems (track, power, signaling, communications).
  • Experience in multidisciplinary coordination within large-scale Design-Build or P3 projects.
  • Ability to interpret and review technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with interface management or requirements tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of International and Canadian design codes and relevant railway standards.
