Technical and Customer Service Superintendent

YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Technical and Environmental Manager, the Technical and Customer Service Superintendent will be responsible for managing quality and customer service for the Mill. This position also provides leadership, direction and performance management for the Process and Laboratory Technicians in the Technical department.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality
Monitor quality related process conditions and identify key quality parameters affecting pulp machine productivity, manufacturing costs and final product quality.
Establish quality targets to meet internal control and quality performance related to pulp.
Support the resolution of key quality issues by working with the accountable manufacturing manager and by providing technical information to the organization.
Work in conjunction with Pulp Division Sales offices to address quality customer concerns and to communicate quality parameters to end-use customers through the administration of the complaint handling systems.
Manages customer Certificate of Analysis (CoA’s) and works with the Engineering Administrator to provide CoA’s to Pulp Customers.
Raise quality awareness through training, communication and employee involvement.
Support sales group, as required, with customer service visits.
Lab Supervisor
Direct supervision of laboratory technologist(s) who are responsible for completing analytical testing throughout the facility. Ensure direct reports demonstrate effectiveness in role and provide developmental opportunities.
Responsible to maintain the operation of the main laboratory, while ensuring housekeeping, health and safety standards, and lab practices are upheld.
Develop, implement and maintain test methods that meet the requirements for the accuracy and repeatability. Incorporate these methods into the standard test procedures and maintain as required.
Report on the results of analytical testing to support technical problem solving by interpreting the results in the context of the test methodology and plant operating parameters.
Comply with the collective agreement and foster sound union/management/employee relations.
Management System
Establish, implement, maintain and ensure compliance with quality management system (QMS) and environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with the International Standard and report on their performance as a basis for improvement.
Act as the management representative for QMS systems
Ensure that all elements are examined routinely by establishing an internal auditing schedule, verifying auditor’s qualifications and coordinating the execution of the audits.
Develop, implement, and update the necessary procedures as part of the QMS and EMS systems identified to maintain registrations.
Coordinate audits, internal and external, to ensure availability of observances personnel involved.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in pulping operations
Strong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software including Microsoft Office Suite
