What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Director, Business Architecture, the Business Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Toronto Pearson as a world-class, sustainable, and passenger-friendly airport. This role leads the analysis, design, and implementation of innovative operating models and strategic initiatives that support both the LIFT capital program (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals) and the broader transformation of the corporation. Acting as an engagement lead, the Business Architect will guide a team of experienced process analysts and collaborate closely with senior leadership, operations, IT, and external partners. The incumbent will identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategic roadmaps, and drive transformational initiatives, ensuring that changes to organizational design, policies, and processes are forward-thinking and contribute to the overall success of Toronto Pearson.

As a Business Architect, you will:


  • Translate strategic outcomes set by the Executive Team and Corporate Strategy into actionable initiatives, advising leadership on business capabilities and serving as a transformation and airport industry subject matter expert.
  • Lead workshops with senior leadership to define priorities, shape initiatives, and support framing complex ideas into well-defined projects with the EPMO and Transformation Strategy teams.
  • Design and maintain business architecture models and multi-year capability maturity roadmaps that support the airport’s long-term strategic vision.
  • Diagnose operational challenges, conduct root cause analysis, analyze performance data, and provide actionable recommendations to improve business processes and operating models.
  • Analyze, design, and implement innovative operating models that align with enterprise objectives, strategic plans, and transition planning requirements.
  • Support the transformation agenda by identifying delivery risks, removing roadblocks, and acting as a trusted advisor to align stakeholders with strategic priorities.
  • Provide consultancy support for transformation initiatives, including data analysis, facilitation, and content creation for high-priority projects.
  • Advise on project scope, timelines, cost estimates, risks, and success metrics while monitoring progress and ensuring benefit realization.
  • Oversee cross-functional contractors and consultants, develop diverse teams, and drive clarity and ownership for the successful execution of transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrate GTAA leadership behaviours by fostering innovation, collaboration, accountability, and results-oriented performance across your team and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gain support for business architecture initiatives and align operating models with enterprise objectives.
  • Partner with the Change Management office and cross-functional teams to develop plans, materials, and engagement strategies that ensure successful project implementation.


This is the role for you, if you have:


  • 8+ years of experience designing and implementing new target operating models in a large corporate or operations environment, encompassing organizational design, people, policy, process, technology, and analytics, while working with senior leadership.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience managing teams in direct or indirect reporting structures.
  • Strategic leadership, visioning, and the ability to guide senior leaders and facilitate high-level strategic discussions.
  • Ability to define overarching and localized strategies, understanding implications and influencing factors across the organization.
  • Demonstrated consulting and analytical skills, including framing issues, assessing options, defining solutions, and providing structured recommendations.
  • Ability to gather and analyze large data sets to derive actionable insights.
  • Experience in operating model definition, assessing and reviewing business processes, identifying best practices, and improving service delivery.
  • Continuous improvement and quality mindset, with the ability to incorporate best practices and emerging technologies.
  • High-level understanding of IT systems and information architecture.
  • Experience developing and analyzing business cases, managing projects, and resolving complex issues.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence effectively and earn trust.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation and content creation.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Post-secondary degree in a business field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
