KEY FUNCTION:
Provide efficient and confidential scheduling support to the department, while ensuring day to day clerical work is carried out.


REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Medical Imaging.


DUTIES:
1. Register patients for all departments within Medical Imaging.
2. Schedule appointments in the Meditech Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) module.
3. Phone or fax consultations and report distribution as required.
4. Ensure data quality of patient electronic medical record.
5. Distribute imaging to various reporting groups.
6. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
7. Participate in hospital training as required.
8. Assist with improvement initiatives as required.
9. Perform other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE)).
2. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.


EXPERIENCE:
1. Six (6) months recent relevant experience is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology.
2. Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in data entry.
4. Demonstrated computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and applicable patient information systems.
5. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers.
6. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks.
8. Demonstrated compliance with HSN’s privacy policy.
9. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
