Overview

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is looking for a collaborative focused Student who is driven to explore emerging ideas and contribute to projects across the organization.

This Student will join our team as a co-op in the Strategy, Project Management & Change Division (SPMC). This position reports to the Director, Strategy, Project Management & Change and will contribute to long-term strategic planning, annual business planning, project management and enterprise change needs.

The SPMC Division supports the OEB in identifying strategic opportunities, guiding business decisions, and monitoring performance. This year, SPMC will be looking to improve its services for executives and project teams, update the organization’s approach to performance measurement, and facilitate the development of the next Strategic Plan to guide the organization in a time of change and opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, including jurisdictional scans, on emerging topics in energy, strategy, and related fields
  • Prepare briefings based on government announcements and the review of research, trends and best practices
  • Identify, analyze and report on developments in the energy sector that could impact the organization's strategic objectives and performance
  • Support status reporting, issues and risk management and change control procedures following established policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings and events, including collecting and distributing relevant materials, taking detailed meeting minutes and following up on action items
  • Assist in the preparation of clear and effective communications to project teams and stakeholders
  • Lead or assist with projects focused on SPMC priorities, such as improving process flow, collaboration, data collection and interpretation, or communication with other Divisions
  • Perform cross-functional tasks and/or other project-related duties as required (copyediting, document management and quality assurance, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Completion of 2nd or 3rd year of a Public Policy, Business, Political Science, Engineering or similar program preferred
  • Registered in a co-op program at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated coursework or extracurricular experience in related to public administration, public policy or project management is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and logical analysis
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Motivated to work independently within a team environment
  • Analytical and critical thinker
  • Resourceful and creative problem solver
  • Enrollment in a post-secondary Business, Public Policy, Political Science, Environmental Studies, or Engineering, program preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft programs
