What will you work on?

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Junior Database Administrator provides technical support for database systems and related infrastructure in a centralized computing environment. Working under general supervision, the role is responsible for responding to service requests, performing routine database maintenance, and supporting internal users. Tasks are performed according to established procedures, with escalation to Senior Database Administrators or Data Engineers as required for guidance or next level support.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

  • Monitors system performance and responds to alerts, service requests, and incidents related to database systems and supporting infrastructure; investigates issues using standard tools and procedures, applies corrective actions, and escalates unresolved problems.
  • Installs, configures, and tests database software, scripts, and related tools in accordance with established procedures.
  • Applies vendor-provided maintenance updates as directed and escalates complex issues.
  • Monitors and maintains database and system security profiles by managing user access and reviewing logs, as directed.
  • Codes, modifies, tests, and maintains basic database scripts and automation routines (e.g., T-SQL, PowerShell) to support system implementation and operational tasks.
  • Performs basic database backups, restores, and migrations as directed and escalates complex issues.
  • Provides input into the development and refinement of technical support procedures for database installation, testing, and performance monitoring.
  • Assists users by providing training and instructional materials on database tools, reporting interfaces, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Documents technical procedures, configurations, and support workflows.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
