CBC News is looking for an experienced copy editor to join our digital team at Canada's leading news website and app. You’re an accomplished journalist and an excellent news editor with a sharp eye for stories that connect with contemporary Canada. You are capable of working collaboratively with some of the most experienced journalists in the business while also supporting and mentoring newer ones.

Reporting to the senior producer of the editing team and the digital executive producer, you ensure the accurate and efficient delivery of news copy to CBC’s digital, social and video news platforms, always with the audience in mind. You have uncompromising attention to detail and high quality standards. You write and refine sharp headlines and engaging copy. You are proficient in leveraging visual storytelling and packaging tools and techniques and adapting to evolving technologies.

You are comfortable jumping from topic to topic: you could be working on a live page for an election one day and pivoting to a health explainer the next day. You know what sings on a video title as much as you know how to restructure an investigative piece to bring the best to the audience.

In this role, you also play a crucial part in our breaking news coverage, ensuring timely updates and accurate information across live story pages. You’re a critical thinker, multitasker and self-starter who is comfortable making independent editorial decisions in accordance with the CBC News Journalistic Standards and Practices, as well as the overall digital strategy.

You care about the people you work with and have a genuine familiarity with and appreciation for different perspectives, opinions and experiences. You live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.
