What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director, Client Strategy, this role is responsible for supporting a variety of ongoing activities and events for the Client Management Group within the Toronto office. This group liaises with the various business lines within CIBC Capital Markets to maximize efficiencies in the business and provide a seamless, consistent approach to client marketing. This includes the development of marketing materials, the creation and execution of sponsorships and events, and the sharing of information and best practices. Typically, incumbents have a delegated responsibility for ensuring the success of project management, oversight of events and sponsorships, creating communications, creation and coordination of marketing materials and managing all logistics to deliver the successful execution of events that enhance the client experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

How You’ll Succeed
- Event Planning and Execution Leadership: You will collaborate with business teams to develop, plan, execute, and evaluate a variety of client-facing bespoke events throughout the year, both in person and virtually. These events may include receptions, thought leadership workshops, mini-conferences and summits, sporting or entertainment gatherings, as well as lunches and dinners. You will be a key driver for event execution onsite across multiple market locations, ensuring all necessary elements for success are managed effectively. Your responsibilities will include conducting event research and scoping, creating and securing budget approvals, liaising with venues, developing and executing the run of show, and overseeing onsite marketing initiatives such as signage, collateral, and merchandise. Additionally, you will prepare speakers by drafting communications and serve as the day-of lead to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Sponsorship and Brand Promotion Leadership: You will lead the execution of sponsorships and guide the strategy in alignment with planned client events and conference participation. You will develop, execute, and support brand positioning and client communications related to these events, ensuring a consistent and impactful message. Additionally, you will work closely with Marketing leads to promote events through social media and the company website, enhancing visibility and engagement with key audiences.
- Project Management and Budget Oversight: You will support overall project management across the Client Strategy team, focusing on multi-tactic initiatives. You will also be responsible for consolidating event expenditures in alignment with the overall plan, helping to ensure projects are executed efficiently and within budget. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will contribute to the seamless delivery of strategic initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: You will oversee the communication of events to Capital Markets, including preparing client briefing notes and providing post-event reporting. You will develop and maintain key relationships with internal CIBC employees, teams, and departments at both the peer and management levels, ensuring the timely exchange of information required to complete your work effectively. Additionally, you will act as the liaison for bank event initiatives, facilitating collaboration and alignment across the organization.
- You have 5+ years of experience in event management, marketing and/or sponsorship management. Experience in the financial industry is considered an asset.
- You have demonstrated experience in project management, timeline management, budgeting, and reporting.
- You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You are able to interact confidently and effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Your strong writing abilities allow you to convey complex information clearly and professionally across various audiences and formats, ensuring your messages are always impactful and well understood.
- You have an eye for detail. You demonstrate a strong commitment to accuracy, consistently processing information with exceptional attention to detail.
