Position: General Manager
Employment Term: Permanent, Full Time

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000 annually, based on relevant experience and qualifications; it includes benefits and three weeks of vacation.

AgSafe BC is a non-profit health and safety association dedicated to supporting agricultural producers in British Columbia. It provides site-specific consultations, on-site safety training, and online workplace safety resources to promote safe work environments. AgSafe BC is the COR Certifying Partner for B.C.'s agricultural and associated industries, offering the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program for employers of all sizes. Through services such as site evaluations, training programs, and the development of informational materials, AgSafe BC is committed to advancing safety and health in agriculture. The organization also engages in community outreach through agriculture-related events and promotional activities.
This position requires the General Manager to occasionally work outside of traditional office hours, including attending events, board meetings, and community engagement. Strong and consistent communication with staff and the Board of Directors is essential. Job Overview
As General Manager, you will lead AgSafe BC in operations and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with its mission to promote agricultural health and safety.
In this role, you will:
- Implement the strategic direction and priorities established by the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial legislation, regulatory requirements, and non-profit governance standards.
- Maintain stakeholder confidence through transparent, accountable, and values-based leadership.
- Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement in agricultural health and safety across British Columbia.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Support staff in developing and implementing programs for the organization
- Evaluate the delivery and effectiveness of services and initiatives
- Collaborate with the Operational Controller and the Accounting department to ensure sound financial management and fiscal responsibility.
- Work in conjunction with the Board of Directors on policy development, implementation, governance practices, and maintaining strong board relations
- Provide strategic leadership for the organization
- Support and guide staff responsible for public relations and marketing initiatives
- Oversee consultants, human resources functions, and organizational culture
Qualifications
- Proven leadership in team management and organizational development
- Strategic expertise in planning, budgeting, and operational oversight
- Experienced in collaborating with and reporting to non-profit boards of directors
- Skilled communicator with strengths in public speaking and stakeholder engagement
- In-depth knowledge of agricultural health and safety practices
- Comprehensive understanding of non-profit governance and organizational management
