Summary

We are recruiting for Application Specialist (Sales) Co-op/Intern Students for 12 months minimum (starting May 2026) to work with our Measurement Instrumentation and Valves & Actuation Inside Sales teams, based in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Application Specialists, this is an excellent opportunity to hone your customer service skills and expand your knowledge of the process control industry.


Working alongside Application Specialists in this technical sales role, you will gain insight into a variety of industries (e.g., oil & gas, power generation, chemical) and their unique process control requirements. Our Application Specialist team consists of individuals who specialize in providing customers with application, instrumentation, and process solutions by way of sizing & selecting control valves, specifying measurement devices (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, pH, etc.) and making recommendations for manual and automated on/off valves.


Work Term:
12-16 months, starting May, 2026

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist Application Specialist team in generating quotations and proposals for small pursuits and large-scale international projects
  • Respond to incoming customer inquiries for technical information and quotations
  • Evaluate process requirements and budgets to develop technical solutions
  • Use Spartan’s business system to size and select equipment and generate quotations and proposals

Qualifications and Skills

  • Enrollment in post-secondary program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering
  • Proficient with MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills in an industrial environment an asset
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Customer-centric mindset and collaborative team player
  • Excellent communication, planning, scheduling, prioritization, and time management skills
  • High degree of dependability and reliability
  • Detail oriented
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
