The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Manager of Network and Telecom Services, you will be part of the Information Technology Department. In this role, you will provide technical expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting network and wireless solutions across all Operations networks. These solutions must meet business requirements, ensure high availability, and address specific OT and operational network needs. Success in this position requires creative problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, and broad technical knowledge.

Your Next Challenge

OT and IT Wireless Networking
- Design and provide deployment guidance for IT/Operational network infrastructure such as private LTE/5G.
- Advise and support global IT staff who are engaged in telecommunication system upgrades
- Good working knowledge of the day-to-day operating environment, available tools, operating techniques, and end-user applications used with wireless technology.
- Needs analysis, impact of assessment and development of project timelines related to network and wireless technologies.
- Presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex network technology and designs to audiences with various technical backgrounds
- Maintain professional certification levels to meet vendor requirements
- Conduct network test plans, perform testing in labs, and identify technical and operational issues to management.
- Conduct performance-tuning on network hardware/software technology
- Initiate and implement all projects with the inclusion of safe and secure practices
- Advise local IT staff about outages and problems with the network when required
- Implement, operate, and support global multi-vendor communications infrastructure
- Ensure any proposed telecommunication / wireless solution follows in place standards in terms of networking and cybersecurity
- Act as escalation support for the global communications infrastructure to a globally distributed team of IT professionals, escalating to vendors when necessary
- Regularly monitor network performance and capacity to ensure equipment and services are functioning and operating at optimal capacity
- Implement, support, and operate network equipment in compliance with information security policies
- Work with Global IT Security to ensure that network equipment is hardened, is up to date and is running secure software versions, and identify potential improvements to network security settings
- Bachelor’s Degree in telecommunication engineering & RF or equivalent work experience
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience
- Mining, other extractive industry, or experience in an industrial facility is considered an asset.
- Excellent technical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent knowledge of LTE, 5G and 802.11/16 technologies
- Ability to evaluate technical solutions for scalability and fit into existing environment
- The ability to prioritize, focus and solve problems in a demanding environment
- A general willingness and desire to learn new network technologies
- Proficiency in the use of the English language as you will be working in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary language.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
- Workplace: Possibility to work in one of AEM's offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, Mirabel or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
- Ability to travel internationally.
- Able to work flexible hours.
