Job Description

Reporting to the Benefits & Wellness manager you will work along side various HR support teams located in the Calgary SE office. This role is integral to the operation of our group benefit and retirement savings plans and wellness programs and is a key forward-facing support to employees, leadership and operations. As a large, complex and matrixed organization you will interact with fellow HR professionals, external vendors, office leadership and department management, employees and other stakeholders including corporate benefits daily.

You will be responsible for Canadian plans as outlined below:

Group Benefits Program

  • Primary contact for the group extended health & dental program for group benefits account team, external benefits consultant, and employees.
  • Responsible for the oversight, planning and analytics and management of the annual full cycle annual flexible benefits re-enrolment program including partnering with external benefit consultant, group benefits project management team, internal management and employee support.
  • Provide in depth understanding and conveyance of the various health & wellness plans and contracts to various stakeholders.
  • Administer day-to-day benefit actions, audit and reconcile between various internal systems and external provider data.

Disability Management & Other Company Leaves

  • Liaise with external group benefits disability case managers, employees and internal management, while maintaining oversight of internal related processes including coordination, administration, trend reporting, and providing key education of program.
  • Benefit management and oversight of other leaves including protected leaves and benefit management of all outbound international expatriates.

Group Retirement And Savings Plans

  • Primary contact for the group registered retirement and savings program for recordkeeper account team, external retirement plan consultant, and employees .
  • Primary Support in the management of the plans including analysis and recommendations, day-to-day administrative actions and audit compliance.

Governance And Compliance

  • Support in the management of governance reviews of benefit and wellness vendors, systems and contracts in collaboration corporate governance teams and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, plan documents, internal procedures and policies and global standards.

Systems

  • Fundamental understanding of SAP and SuccessFactors coupled with experience in vendor system integrations and system enhancements.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and seven (7) years of progressive and broad benefit, group retirement, and systems work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eleven (11) years if non degreed
  • 7+ years experience in benefits & wellness program experience in a large or multinational company coupled with demonstrated experience leading full-cycle annual Canadian group benefit enrollment for a large organization
  • 7+ years experience dealing with retirement and pension planning and governance matters
  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of key program initiatives including research, cost assessments, presentation to key stakeholders, implementation planning and completion
  • Prior experience with SAP and SuccessFactors with strong and demonstrated experience in Excel including writing formulas and developing complex reporting
  • Familiarity with management of disability management including coordinating gradual return to work programs is ideal
  • Ability to maintain strong attention to detail in a high-volume work environment while working in a time-conscious and time-effective manner is required.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer and software skills to analyze, problem solve and seek solutions to data with strong abilities in excel including writing formulas and developing complex reporting
  • Attention to detail while working in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialists (CEBS)
  • SuccessFactors Implementation/Coordination experience
  • Previous experience with SAP and SuccessFactors
