The Strategic Financial Management team plays a critical role in enabling Canadian Banking’s success. We ensure that strategic funding is rigorously assessed, distributed, and managed throughout the year—so every dollar supports initiatives that matter most.
You’ll partner closely with Business Line teams to evaluate business cases, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with our strategic priorities and prioritization framework. Beyond approvals, you’ll help manage investments post-launch, ensuring benefits are realized and outcomes deliver real value.

In This Role, You Will
- In partnership with the Canadian Banking (CB) Planning team, Enterprise Finance, Canadian Banking Finance, and the Technology support the Sr Manager to review and focuses on business case analysis within a specific BL or initiative.
- Maintain and enhance the CB intake platform to improve usability and reduce manual effort.
- Tracks SIP fund deployment and progress against approved plans, and ad-hoc reports on the investments, their benefits, timelines, and approval status.
- Provides reporting and insights to support Sr Managers and BL leadership decision-making
- Assist project teams in completing business cases and ensure all required documentation is accurate and readily available through improved workflows. Ensure all the documents for business case approval are in place and complete
- Follow up with the project teams on any missing documents or approvals.
- Support Enterprise Finance with their requests and ensure their questions and requests are answered/completed by the project teams
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in a finance, engineering, or other technical fields. MBA is an asset.
- 5+ years of previous experience as a Financial Analyst, experience in large enterprise organizations or FI
- Experience with Project Management methodologies
- Familiar with business casing and cost benefit analysis
- 1-2+ years of experience with planning/analysis of benefits and financial tracking
- Familiarity with automating workflows using Microsoft Power Automate to streamline reporting and improve data accuracy is considered an asset.
- Experience working cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders
- Good to have – General experience with business case process at Scotiabank
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate and work closely with others
- Ability to analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to arrive at solutions
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction
- Good time management and organizational skills to effectively manage high-scale project
