Opportunity

NOTE: This is a 12 month full time Fixed term Position.

This is a unique opportunity that is directly responsible for measuring and reporting how well AIMCo ensures the prosperity, security and opportunity for hundreds of thousands of Albertans.

The Investment Performance, Analytics and Reporting (IPAR) group provides independent, insightful, accurate and timely investment performance analytics and attribution information for AIMCo’s clients, Total AIMCo, including all pools, and individual strategies. The IPAR group is closely integrated with external and internal clients to better understand investment strategies and provide them with insights that bring them closer to their investment performance goals. The Client Analytics and Reporting sub-group within the IPAR group is responsible for all external Client and Consultant reporting to provide AIMCo’s clients the comprehensive view their investments.

As a Client Analytics and Reporting Analyst on AIMCo’s IPAR team, you along with the rest of the team, will be responsible for gathering investment data and commentary from across the organization and producing monthly, quarterly and adhoc client reports. Bring fresh ideas of reporting trends from the industry to the team and be involved in continuous improvement for our content.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other members of the team to bring new ideas into fruition.
  • Gather various data and commentary from internal stakeholders to produce monthly and quarterly investment reports for clients and consultants.
  • Provide reporting to AIMCo Executives and Board members.
  • Improve checks and reduce manual processes through automation.
  • Responding to inquiries from clients and client consultants in a consultative and timely manner.
  • Learn and understand AIMCo investment pools and client asset mandates to provide excellent service to our clients.
  • Participate in the implementation of reporting and operational enhancement requests.
  • Fulfill ad hoc external client and consultant inquiries, including working with various internal stakeholder teams to gather the appropriate information.
  • Learn and understand performance methodologies and systems to improve productivity, increasing the value of performance results.
  • Assist in the development of client-centric contribution and attribution commentary to supplement investment reports.
  • Participate in new projects relating to Investment Performance, Analytics and Reporting including Btx.

Success

In the first 6 months, with the support of your team, you will understand AIMCo’s pools and client reports. You will be able to produce error-free monthly and quarterly reports independently and assist with commentary writing for some sections of the reports. You will progress and gain investment performance and attribution knowledge and assist with reporting automation.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science with a finance component is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in pension, investment management, or investment reporting is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of institutional investments, portfolio management, pension and endowment financing is desirable.
  • Demonstrates a clear ability to analyze, interpret and articulate financial data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and thrives under pressure and deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word are desirable.
  • Strong relationship building, communication and writing skills. Proven attention to detail and eye for accuracy.
  • Ability to translate investment data information into meaning client commentary is desirable.
  • Pursuing Investment-related designations such as CFA, FRM, CIPM, CAIA etc. is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SQL querying and data science is desirable.
  • Investment knowledge and experience with SQL, Python and Power BI tools are desirable.
