Job Synopsis
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator (Mar/Com Coordinator) is responsible for the development and execution of a marketing and communications strategy for MCC Saskatchewan, in alignment with the CDR strategic plan.
This position coordinates the functions of brand management, digital communications, and marketing. The Mar-Comm Coordinator works with Donor Relations, Program, and HR to develop materials and coordinate communication efforts to constituents with the goal of raising the profile of MCC in the province.
This position reports to the Communications and Donor Relations Director and is a member of the local CDR Team and the Mar-Comm network across Canada and will participate in meetings associated with both provincial and national teams.
The role is 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalency), with weekend and/or evening work expected occasionally

- Experienced in social media communications, graphic design, and website administration and a proven ability to learn new communications platforms.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities and projects with teams.
- Understanding of Anabaptist perspectives and constituent groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in media relations and an understand of branding and communication guidelines.
- A capacity for connecting effectively with a broad age demographic.
- Experience in videography and photography an asset
- Willingness to learn about MCC projects.
- Familiarity with donor relations and fundraising best practices, strategies, and content development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check required upon hire.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
CDR and Marketing/Communications:
- Plan, monitor, evaluate, implement and report on a communication strategy and necessary resources for the Saskatchewan constituency in consultation with the CDR Director and the Mar/Com network.
- Bring forward the marketing strategies as laid out by the Mar/Com network and assist in determining provincial participation.
- Maintain and update MCCS social media accounts and websites.
- Ensure the creation and distribution of the monthly InTouch e-newsletter and quarterly Grow Hope Newsletter.
- Provide Mar/Com support for Grow Hope.
- Oversee preparation and distribution of print materials and brochures.
- Ensure the collection of materials and images are available for presentations to donors, churches, and constituent groups. Take or coordinate the taking of photographs relevant to MCCS events and prepare the documentation for storage in the provincial PhotoArchive files.
- Ensure appropriate use of MCC system-wide graphics and brand guidelines.
- Develop and maintain local media relations and communications. Prepare Media releases when necessary.
- Oversee the collection and preparation of information for electronic and print versions of the Annual Impact Report for MCCS in coordination with the national office. Assist in developing the annual communications budget and purchasing resources for this role
Program Team Support
- Coordinate the promotional needs for MCCS Local Program opportunities, activities and events within the constituency and broader community. This will involve preparing posters, social media posts, pamphlets, displays and website content.
- Write and/or gather articles and create posts about MCCS program activities and events for publication in MCC newsletters, websites, social media, etc.
- Liaise between Program and CDR departments regarding opportunities to engage the constituency and community in the work of MCC (e.g. fundraising through Program activities and contacts, promoting Program through CDR events and activities).
HR Recruitment + Thrift Support
- Provide communications support to HR for the recruitment needs of SALT, SEED, SEEK, and job openings.
- Create display material for thrift shops for general brand awareness, and utilize the thrift shops as a channel by which to promote the work and activities of MCC using digital and print resources.
General:
- Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and lead devotions as required
- Attend MCC functions as required and represent MCC values and mission to donors, constituents and the general public when handling general inquires.
- Be actively involved in a local Christian community.
- Model non-violent peacemaking in the workplace and community through respectful interactions and professional relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.

Location Description
Saskatchewan has approximately 1.2 million people, with its main office located in Saskatoon. The MCC constituency involves donors from across the province including 96 churches, most belonging to Mennonite Church Saskatchewan and the SK Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Rosthern Junior College, a Mennonite high school is also a part of the constituency.
The MCCS office is in the north industrial area of Saskatoon, named after the saskatoon berry, which is native to the region and is itself derived from the Cree misâskwatômina. Saskatoon is a city of 270,000 which is a service and distribution center supporting the surrounding area with commercial, technical, agricultural, transportation, health, educational, and other public services. The MCCS building accommodates MCC staff, a Material Resource Centre, a gathering place, and the offices of several related organizations.
