In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1 – Provide revision services with a focus on language, terminology and technical accuracy
- Review training materials produced by the national Learning and Development team, including all components of online or virtual training, as well as Emergency Management documentation.
- Occasionally review documents for other CRC departments as well as general documentation (legal documents, health and wellbeing webinar, interview guides, email banners, IFRC material, etc.).
- Ensure documentation used in Quebec is adapted to the CRC-Quebec reality and meets the needs in the field.
- Ensure stylistic consistency.
- Assess the language quality of various documents and draft reports and recommendations.
- Translate short text from English to French, if needed.
- Draft (relatively short) content, as needed, based on discussions with key contacts (e.g., Quebec-specific requirements, changes to standards, procedures, etc.).
- Perform quality control of documents and texts with respect to style, syntax, and grammar.
- Ensure that French and English versions match.
- Conduct terminology and technical research and verification.
- Replace icons and images as needed.
- Adapt graphics or visual elements as needed.
- Ensure proper file management.
- Work with the Translation department as needed.
- Validate specific policies, procedures, and standards.
- Review documents specifically related to emergency operations under tight deadlines.
- Work closely with other personnel to validate terms and content.
- Manage and monitor the various translation and revision projects assigned.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director - Training - Volunteer Resources in setting objectives and priorities for revision projects.
- Ensure communications with stakeholders and act as the focal point for all revision projects.
- Create follow-up reports on various revision projects.
- Provide terminology support for specific employee and volunteer programs.
- Perform other administrative tasks.
- University-level training in translation or any relevant combination of training and experience.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience providing professional revision and terminology services.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Experience in emergency management is considered an asset.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Fluency in French and English is mandatory.
- Extensive knowledge of and practical experience with the MS Office suite.
- Extensive knowledge of French and English and their associated resources, terminology, and challenges.
- Knowledge of translation techniques.
- Knowledge of terminology procedures.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
- Proven reasoning and analytical skills.
- Strong customer service.
- Capacity to be flexible, self-sufficient, proactive and exercise professionalism.
- Ability to occasionally work in a high-pressure environment with non-traditional hours.
