Responsibilities
The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks department requires a regular full-time Asphalt Raker in the Streets Section. You will perform semi-skilled manual work entailing considerable physical effort and agility in public works and in particular roads-related work. You will use rakes, lutes and other tools in the repair, maintenance and improvement of asphalt road surfaces. You will apply craftsmanship in raking pre-mix asphaltic mixtures evenly to prescribed grade and depth by using related tools and applying bonding agent to bind seal coat to surface. You may receive instructions from a Supervisor or Lead Hand and will also assist other crew members in placing and removing excess material as required.
Requirements
You will have related experience in roads maintenance and construction and good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in roads work. You must have demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical labouring / manual work. A valid Class 5 Drivers License is required. Experience towing a trailer is an asset. You must also be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity.
Compensation
$34.37 per hour
(January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
