The Specialist, Business Continuity will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing Air Canada’s enterprise contingency response and business continuity frameworks. This role ensures the airline’s operational resilience against major disruptions — including labour disputes, weather events, system outages, and fleet or infrastructure incidents.
The ideal candidate combines strategic foresight with tactical coordination — capable of designing robust contingency frameworks while leading cross-functional crisis responses when required.

The Specialist, Business Continuity will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing Air Canada’s enterprise contingency response and business continuity frameworks. This role ensures the airline’s operational resilience against major disruptions — including labour disputes, weather events, system outages, and fleet or infrastructure incidents.

Responsibilities
Contingency Planning
- Develop and maintain enterprise contingency plans covering a broad spectrum of potential operational disruptions.
- Partner with SOC, Airports, Flight Operations, and Corporate Security to ensure alignment and readiness across the organization.
- Lead after-action reviews to identify learnings and integrate continuous improvement into future planning.
- Maintain Air Canada’s enterprise Business Continuity Plan (BCP), ensuring departmental ownership, regular testing, and executive reporting.
- Facilitate continuity planning workshops and scenario simulations to validate resilience strategies.
- Responsible to ensure continuity frameworks comply with regulatory and internal governance requirements.
- Serve as a key member of the Operations Response Team during significant disruptions.
- Lead communication, decision-tracking, and recovery actions across internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Senior Director and Executive Operations leadership in crisis escalation, reporting, and stakeholder alignment.
- Establish governance and documentation standards for all continuity and contingency plans.
- Track and report program maturity, readiness metrics, and audit outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships across Operations, Corporate Security, IT, and Corporate Affairs to ensure enterprise-wide preparedness.
- Degree in Emergency Management, Operations, or related field (advanced certification such as CBCP, ISO 22301 preferred).
- 5–8 years of experience in business continuity, emergency planning, or operations control in an aviation or complex operational environment.
- Strong organizational, facilitation, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to synthesize information rapidly and provide structured recommendations in time-sensitive environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across executive and front-line teams.
