About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer to join our Prime services organization at our Toronto office. This full-time onsite position is critical for supporting collaborative team dynamics and fostering innovative problem-solving. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining resilient, robust APIs, libraries, and services that power our financial services such as clearing and settlement, digital asset lending, trading, and liquidity management.

You will take ownership of functionality and scalability features from inception through deployment and customer integration, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers and other engineering units, is essential to ensure consistency, technical excellence, and alignment with our strategic objectives. Additionally, you will mentor peers through code reviews and best practice sharing, contributing to a culture of craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related technical discipline from a top university
  • Experience with server-side languages such as Golang, TypeScript/Node.js, Java, Python, or similar
  • Proven experience developing or supporting financial accounting systems, including general ledger and bookkeeping functions
  • Strong proficiency with SQL databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Expertise in RESTful API design and development
  • Experience with unit and functional testing, debugging, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub, branching strategies, code review tools, and continuous integration (CI) pipelines
  • Understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, with a strong interest in digital assets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, algorithm design, and complexity analysis capabilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications include over 4 years of back-end development experience, familiarity with microservices architecture, large-scale distributed applications, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and experience within the financial industry, especially in areas such as digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, or accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain resilient APIs, libraries, and services to support core financial functions, including clearing, settlement, lending, trading, and liquidity management
  • Take ownership of features from conceptualization through deployment, ensuring scalability, security, and performance
  • Expose and document functionalities for UI integration, third-party developers, and internal tooling to facilitate seamless integration and user experience
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and engineering teams to define requirements, ensure technical consistency, and uphold quality standards
  • Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and promote best practices within the engineering team
  • Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization of existing systems
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous innovation and improvement
