Our client, a large professional services firm located in Ontario, Canada, is looking to hire a Mainframe WebSphere and MQ Series Administrator for a 6-month remote contract. The consultant will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of IBM WebSphere Application Server and MQ Series middleware on mainframe platforms. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performance messaging and application services across enterprise systems. The administrator collaborates with infrastructure, development, and security teams to support mission-critical business operations.
The consultant will provide middleware infrastructure management as well as administration and maintenance for WebSphere Application Server and MQ Series environments on z/OS. The consultant will configure queue managers, channels, listeners, and message flows for high availability and throughput as well as monitor and manage middleware performance, capacity, and fault tolerance.
The consultant will be tasked with integration & messaging, implementing secure messaging solutions between distributed systems and mainframe environments. The consultant will support inter-platform communication (e.g., Linux to z/OS) using MQ protocols and secure channels and also troubleshoot message delivery issues and ensure end-to-end visibility of transactions.

The expected hourly rate range for this role is: $45 – $71.5 per hour
The posted range is an estimate, the actual compensation offer will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications and will be in line with internal equity.

Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe middleware administration.
- Proficiency in IBM WebSphere Application Server and MQ Series on z/OS.
- Experience configuring queue managers, channels, listeners, and message flows for high availability
- Experience monitoring and managing middleware performance, capacity, and fault tolerance.
- Ability to support inter-platform communication (e.g., Linux to z/OS) using MQ protocols and secure channels and also troubleshoot message delivery issues and ensure end-to-end visibility of transactions.
- Familiarity with hybrid integration platforms (e.g., App Connect Enterprise, webMethods).
