The Conservation Officer Service is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Recruitment Supervisor.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Staff Sergeant in charge of Training and Standards, this position has a provincial scope and is responsible for the planning, organization, delivery, and evaluation of recruitment programs for the Conservation Officer Service. This includes overseeing the hiring of Conservation Officers, Seasonal Conservation Officers, and Seasonal Patrol Officers. Additionally, the role supports the procurement and acquisition of specialized equipment for the Conservation Officer Service.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Graduate of an approved Renewable Resource Management Program or Environmental Management Studies University / College Program, with resource law enforcement content including experience as a Conservation Officer in a multi-discipline field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience satisfactory to the department may be considered
- Experience in law enforcement and legislative compliance applicable to natural resources
- Knowledge in procurement and financial management
- Ability to work effectively through stressful situations.
- Experience supervising staff
- Experience with staffing
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people in a multitude of areas
- Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to lead presentations and seminars
- Strong written communication skills with experience in computer programs including Word, Excel, and database software
- Effective prioritization, organizational and time management skills with the ability to deal with changing workload and demands
- Certified board chair through the Public Service Commission
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a full and valid class 4 Manitoba Drivers Licence
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check, with no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Manitoba Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks
- Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the province and within Canada and may
require incorporating work schedule changes, including some evenings and weekends
which at times will result in regular days off on weekdays. - Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening
- Must be eligible for appointment as a Manitoba Conservation Officer as specified in the Conservation Officers Act and Regulations
- Must be able to successfully complete an approved Psychological Assessment
- Must be able to successfully complete the Physical Abilities Readiness Evaluation (PARE - exit level 4:45 min), Police Fitness Assessment (PFA - Field Version) or Winnipeg Police Service Physical Abilities Test (WPS-PAT - exit level 4:15 min).
- Must pass and maintain department approved firearm, defensive tactics and emergency vehicle training and qualification
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of this position including: conducting outdoor investigations and patrols in adverse weather conditions, walking over rough terrain, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day, and carrying up to 20Kg
