About Ocean Steel
Incorporated in 1955, Ocean Steel services several markets, including Atlantic Canada, the Eastern United States, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Although they specialize in fabricating and erecting structural steel for buildings and bridges, they also manufacture and install platework, such as breechings, stacks, ducts, penstocks, process & storage tanks and custom process-equipment. Ocean Steel’s two New Brunswick plants include the original location in Saint John, as well as the York Steel Plant in Fredericton, which was acquired by Ocean Steel in 1995.

The origins of the OSCO Construction Group go back to 1955 when Ocean Steel & Construction Ltd. was founded in Saint John, New Brunswick. Since that time, the OSCO Construction Group has grown to encompass four main operating sectors: Steel, Concrete, Construction and Corporate. Within these sectors lie an ever-expanding number of construction-related companies and divisions, serving a growing market area and employing over twelve hundred employees.

Responsibilities
- Position, align and fitting of structural metal or steel
- Determine material requirements and task sequences with the use of shop drawings
- Mark reference points on workpieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, or soapstone
- Lift or move steel materials into position using overhead cranes
- Regular use of jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
- Successful completion of pre-employment college program or equivalent experience
- Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification (Block 1)
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in structural steel fabricating
- CSA approved steel toe boots
