USD Asset Consultant at Guru Studio

Guru Studio is a creative-driven entertainment company and an industry leader in animated storytelling. For over twenty years, our studio has brought to life some of the most recognizable and beloved children’s properties in the world.

Our award winning, and internationally renowned Toronto animated entertainment company, is looking for a USD Asset Consultant to work with our teams to maximize their use of USD throughout the Asset pipeline. This role reports directly to the VP of Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit the current processes used by each of the Asset teams, and provide documentation of recommendations.
  • Connect with creative leadership to understand scope of work and desired results.
  • Develop asset strategies with a focus on production efficiency.
  • Establish processes to streamline asset complexity for downstream departments.
  • Ensure adherence to correct USD practices.
  • Create examples of efficient asset structures that staff can replicate.
  • Educate staff on best practices and new workflows that USD offers.

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years minimum of USD experience in the context of an animation pipeline.
  • Experience in both Feature and Episodic content creation.
  • High level knowledge of Houdini/Solaris
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when interfacing with various departments.
  • Communicating effectively with back end departments (FX/Finaling/Lighting).
  • Experience working as an Asset or Surfacing supervisor is an advantage.
