Grande Yellowhead Public School Division has an exciting career opportunity with our Inclusion team for a Full-Time, Divisional Psychologist.

Position: Full-Time, Divisional Psychologist

Location : Start Date : As soon as mutually agreed upon

Hours of Work : 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, 10 Months per year

This is a 10-month position. The Divisional Psychologist will report directly to the Director of Inclusive Learning.

The Division is open to a work arrangment within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. The official work location will be determined and approved by the Director of Inclusive Learning.

Summary: The Divisional Psychologist understands inclusion in the school setting, and works to support learning outcomes for all students throughout the levels of the pyramid response to intervention. The Divisional Psychologist supports the implementation of a comprehensive counselling service including prevention programs, intervention strategies and crisis response and is skilled at teacher collaboration and sharing promising practices, with specific expertise in supporting social participation and embedding positive behavior/mental health supports. The Divisional Psychologist liaises with school based teams,collaborates with the FSLC team and works as a member of the Inclusion team.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a member of the Inclusion Team and with other departments to advance the vision of GYPSD to ensure the highest level of learning is actualized for ALL students.
  • Share knowledge about emerging trends and research-based instructional practices, especially in the domain of trauma, positive behavior/mental health supports and improved social participation for students with targeted and intensive needs.
  • Assist schools, as requested, in creating behavior support plans and safety plans for students with challenging behavior/mental health needs.
  • Conduct a variety of psychological assessments, interpret the results and provide recommendations to support student learning.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports of student assessment for professional recommendation purposes.
  • Potential supervision for a provisional psychologist
  • Act as the Division's Violence Threat Risk Assessment Team Leader. (VTRA)
  • Contribute to achieving the outcomes established for the Inclusion Team and the division.

The Division

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
