Please note some departments require in-office presence five (5) days per week, Monday to Friday.

The Town of Oakville is seeking applications for students interested in doing administrative duties during the summer term of 2026. The responsibilities and qualifications listed below are indicative of the typical skills and competencies needed for a variety of positions. All applications will be retained in a pool and reviewed as any requests for summer administrative staff are received from Town departments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responding to inquiries in person, via telephone, mail, fax, emails to the public, elected representatives and staff.
- Providing information to customers and potential customers both over the phone and in person.
- Recording and forwarding information requests to appropriate staff.
- Photocopying and collating information packages for distribution.
- Scanning and digitization of records.
- Providing accurate information regarding department services.
- Preparing and processing documents regarding Town business and responses to customers.
- Providing administrative support to department staff.
- Tracking, recording, and distributing all incoming mail.
- Data entry, filing, and other clerical duties as required.
- Back-up support for telephone switchboard.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- All applicants must provide confirmation of post-secondary full time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies in September 2026.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and clerical skills are critical.
- Previous experience working in a customer service-related environment is considered an asset.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective keyboarding skills and proficiency with office automation and computer applications such as Microsoft Office products are required.
- Familiarity with any of the following would be considered an asset: Point of Sale (POS) systems, Amanda, JD Edwards, Google and Outlook calendar, Graphic Design, and/or SharePoint.
