Applications are invited for a Light Equipment Maintenance Person in the Parks Department. Under the direction of the Parks Supervisor or his/her designate, the maintenance person performs repairs and preventative maintenance of small engines and ground maintenance equipment. Also performs welding repairs and fabricates various accessory items. Completes reports and maintains equipment records and inventories.

Selection Criteria:

  • Grade 12 Education or equivalent acceptable experience.
  • Small Engine Technician Certificate or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of previous experience.
  • Knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance of small engines and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrated welding ability.
  • General fabrication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Experience in the use of computers.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hours of Work:


7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

2025 rate - $32.08 per hour

2026 rate - $33.36 per hour

Plus applicable shift premiums


Duration:


Temporary Indefinite; after conclusion of this position, revert to part-time pool with opportunity to apply to internal job postings in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
