Fuel Transport is expanding rapidly and looking for a Rates Specialist for our office located in LaSalle, Quebec.

Job Summary:

  • Support the operational needs by providing rates in a timely fashion based on factors such as handling costs, fuel costs, business volumes and potential return trips.
  • In accordance with company policy, handle all submission of rates as per processes including spot quotes, regular quotations, RFP’s and bids.
  • Assure billing accuracy by updating the Rate Sheet as well as ensuring the information is shared internally with Accounting.
  • Analyze existing freight rates, tariff regulations to revise or recommend changes in rate structures, rules, and regulations for freight carriers
  • Analyze proposals and applications for changes in rates, rules, or regulations and newly approved rate changes.
  • Validate billing errors and provides feedback to ensure billing accuracy
  • Liaise with Operations by assisting them so that rates can be communicated back to the customers and internal clients
  • Support Operations by responding to customer inquiries related to rates either by phone or e-mail correspondence
  • Coordinate bids/tenders to ensure all required information is provided and that deadlines are met.

Education & Qualifications

  • DEC or University degree is an asset, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within the transportation industry.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of an additional language is required, as the candidate will need to interact and communicate with clients, suppliers, and colleagues across North America.
  • Familiarity with TMW (TruckMate) is an asset.
